YSMHL PLAYOFF RULES - Semis and Finals 2024YSMHL Playoff Rules for the 2024 Semi's and Finals will follow our Constitution. Pls refer to our Constitution section 8.5 (see below). Overtime is to be played 5 on 5. For the Tie-Breaker, please also look at our
Constitution Sec 8.8.
8.5 Overtime
(a) Any game in YSMHL Playoffs series is subject to a 10-minute sudden victory overtime period in the event of a tie at the end of three (3) periods of play. The 10-minute overtime is to be noted on the contract. (to be noted on gamesheet)
(b) No 10-minute overtime period in YSMHL round robin play. (adopted March 4, 2014)
(c) All contracted playoff series are subject to a ten (10) minute overtime period. If an additional game is required to determine the winner of the series, the revised contract will consist of three (3) regulation and three (3) “10-minute” overtime periods for that game – approved by the Regional Director. No additional playoff game will be completed with more than three (3) overtime periods after regulation play. If an additional game is required, the team with the first available ice time will be awarded any subsequent game should that be necessary to determine a series winner. This rule will be applied to the 3rd game of the 3 game series if required.
