Innisfil Minor Peewee A Silver Stick Champions
Innisfil Winterhawks Minor Peewee A qualifies for the International Silver Stick Finals in Newmarket!! Way to go boys!!!!

Mighty St. Thomas, ranked #4 in Ontario at the start of the tournament and unbeaten in the round robin games, appeared to get the jitters after seeing they weren't going to walk all over us in the semi-final. They made some mistakes and we capitalized brilliantly. It was a tight nail-biter that could've gone either way, but our boys were first to strike in overtime and take the W.

In the championship game, East Gwillimbury had just come off the ice with a hard fought win against Hespeler, while our boys had time to rest and have lunch. Our extra energy reserves put us over the top, but it wasn't without some scary moments. EG fought hard and peppered us with shots in 3 power play opportunities, but our defensive structure was solid and most of the play was kept to the outside. Both teams played outstanding defense but our boys threaded the needle when it mattered. An empty net goal in the final minute sealed the deal.

This performance was not about individual superstars. It was about working together as a team with everyone contributing. The locker room atmosphere was great, and the support from the parent group was fantastic! One of the parents with long hair even let the kids shave his head in honor of the victory, and the hair was donated to charity to make wigs for cancer patients! All in all it was a successful weekend that we can all be proud of. Well done Hawks!!”
